Geek out session & bug squashing to follow as usual, and of course, you’re free to share what you’re working on too :)

Date: 18 July 2009
Time: 3-5pm
Venue: Adrian’s Office at Kelana Jaya (see here/below for directions to go and map)

All are welcome, see you there!

Some of you may already know TouchArts (yep, they’re a local developer, yay!) whose previous APIIT app was mentioned before.

They have now come up with a game, which is a take on the memory training/brain training genre of games but with a uniquely different approach and a very pleasant ambience, coupled with beautiful art and a wonderful sountrack. Check out the video at the bottom of their webpage to get a feel of the game for yourself!

senseless can be purchased from the App Store for only USD0.99. Click here for the iTunes link.

Stanford CS193P iPhone Application Programming now on iTunes U! April 4, 2009

For those who missed last year’s CS193P iPhone Application Programming course by Stanford (the materials and assignments were available online then), or you followed it but wished you could also see the actual lecture, they are now all up on Stanford on iTunes (SoiT). You can now subscribe to this podcast to download materials and videos as they come up (click here to subscribe – link opens in iTunes).

Of course, this being an undergrad course, it assumes some prerequisite knowledge – at least C programming, and it recommends one has knowledge of UNIX and OO programming too. Don’t have any of these knowledge? Sound us out, maybe we can have a short crash course on C/UNIX/OO for those who are really keen on getting into Objective-C and Cocoa in general during one of our meets! :)

This is a little bit late in coming, but congratulations to all local developers who received their awards and recognition from Maxis, especially to Terato Tech (who have joined us occasionally) and Murasu Systems S/B.

The others are: Infinido Technology, Manga Blackbox and Pxing Game Studio.

There are many more out there who are not in the list – such as the wabbit studio, Apptivity Lab, Espressoft, TouchArts – you are not any less important or less amazing that these. Keep it up guys, and let’s make our mark one by one! :)

Also, if you are a local application developer, do not hesitate to let us know who you are and what you’ve been doing. All the best!

TouchArts, by Vanness Tan and Calvin Tam, has published an APIIT schedule helper application to the App Store! Congratulations! The app should be very useful to any APIIT students who own iPhones and iPod touches!

We took a quick look at the TouchArts website and it looks like they have another very interesting app in development – a game codenamed… “prototype”, which is a social game “which pays tribute to the Super Mario legend”. We’re certainly looking forward to it and to see more local developers publishing their apps on the App Store. Congratulations again and all the best, TouchArts!
