Some of you may already know TouchArts (yep, they’re a local developer, yay!) whose previous APIIT app was mentioned before.
They have now come up with a game, which is a take on the memory training/brain training genre of games but with a uniquely different approach and a very pleasant ambience, coupled with beautiful art and a wonderful sountrack. Check out the video at the bottom of their webpage to get a feel of the game for yourself!
senseless can be purchased from the App Store for only USD0.99. Click here for the iTunes link.

Stanford CS193P iPhone Application Programming now on iTunes U! April 4, 2009

For those who missed last year’s CS193P iPhone Application Programming course by Stanford (the materials and assignments were available online then), or you followed it but wished you could also see the actual lecture, they are now all up on Stanford on iTunes (SoiT). You can now subscribe to this podcast to download materials and videos as they come up (click here to subscribe – link opens in iTunes).
Of course, this being an undergrad course, it assumes some prerequisite knowledge – at least C programming, and it recommends one has knowledge of UNIX and OO programming too. Don’t have any of these knowledge? Sound us out, maybe we can have a short crash course on C/UNIX/OO for those who are really keen on getting into Objective-C and Cocoa in general during one of our meets!

This is a little bit late in coming, but congratulations to all local developers who received their awards and recognition from Maxis, especially to Terato Tech (who have joined us occasionally) and Murasu Systems S/B.
The others are: Infinido Technology, Manga Blackbox and Pxing Game Studio.
There are many more out there who are not in the list – such as the wabbit studio, Apptivity Lab, Espressoft, TouchArts – you are not any less important or less amazing that these. Keep it up guys, and let’s make our mark one by one!
Also, if you are a local application developer, do not hesitate to let us know who you are and what you’ve been doing. All the best!

TouchArts, by Vanness Tan and Calvin Tam, has published an APIIT schedule helper application to the App Store! Congratulations! The app should be very useful to any APIIT students who own iPhones and iPod touches!
We took a quick look at the TouchArts website and it looks like they have another very interesting app in development – a game codenamed… “prototype”, which is a social game “which pays tribute to the Super Mario legend”. We’re certainly looking forward to it and to see more local developers publishing their apps on the App Store. Congratulations again and all the best, TouchArts!
No meetup for March, resumes April March 18, 2009

Hi everyone, there will be no MYCocoaHeads meetup this month (due to unforseen circumstances), but normal schedule will resume next month (April). We already do have some topics lined up which will be postponed to next month.
In the meantime, enjoy the new iPhone SDK 3.0 (if you are a paid developer under the Standard or Enterprise Program). Have fun — especially now that the iPhone is officially available in Malaysia. Yes, it’s not “new”, but it removes a lot of roadblocks and hurdles when developing enterprise/corporate applications that make use of iPhone features in Malaysia.

Due to a mistake, there is a change of venue for this month’s MYCocoaHeads meetup.
The new venue is one of our member’s office (thanks, Adrian!) which is located in Kelana Jaya.
The office is in Kelana Jaya, behind Giant Hypermarket along the LDP. The map to the place is posted below. It is on the top floor above an office with the sign “Red “. If you are unsure, do leave a comment below (and use your real email in the email field so that we can contact you).
- For those coming from Damansara side, the way should be quite straightforward.
- For those coming from Subang side, you need to make a U-turn under the flyover (refer to map).
- For those taking LRT, please take the LRT to Kelana Jaya Terminal (obviously
) and from then on, you can either contact us (via the comment box) to arrange for a “shuttle service” between LRT station to the office, or you can take Bus T623, get off at Giant, and walk to the office.
The office is green in colour (walk up to the top floor of B-2-10), with a prominent Firegent logo (same as the one you see on this web page)
Parking is usually not a problem on weekends at that place. Any questions, don’t hesitate to leave a comment below.
See you all!

Hi everyone!
As usual (remember, third Sat of the month) — we will be having our usual meetup.
This time, it is meeting “version: source code control”
where Kamal will introduce the “new hotness” called git and then Adrian will quickly discuss the “old new standard” svn, for the benefit of those who are new to version control systems in general (if there are any).
Chris may also have a topic to share, this one to be confirmed. After all the talks, we will be having our usual code help and bug squash sessions, so bring your code along if you need help! Web programming, iPhone programming, Mac programming, anything.
So as usual, date and time below:
Date: Sat Feb 21, 2009
Time: 3-5pm
Venue: Firegent Sdn Bhd Office, Kelana Jaya (click here for more details)
See you there!
iPhone Developer Shares How A Game is Developed February 12, 2009

Gogogic, creator of the iPhone game Symbol6, asked on his twitter if his followers/friends would like to know about the development process of his game, Symbol6. They did (of course, who wouldn’t
) and he has thus shared an informative post about his game development process.
In the first installment, he details the process of conceptualizing the game idea and mechanics. It is quite lengthy and detailed (but thankfully far from boring!) — and anyone who has learnt rudimentary software development will know that this is one of the most important stage in any app development — a great app cannot be developed by just sitting down, thinking up a general problem, writing some code, seeing where you go from there and adding on features on the fly, ad-hoc-like.
Do jump over here to read the article if you’re keen on tuning into other developer’s dev processes, or if you’re just starting out and need inspirations on how to form and conceptualize ideas.
